Health services for your family

Being healthy is one of the key issues in all families. If you or anyone in your family has health problems then it’s worrying and you want to find help.

You may want advice from your health visitor for your baby or toddler, specialist services for your child’s particular needs or services for you.

There are many different health services available to support your family.

In Slough, some of these services are provided by the Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (BHFT) and Frimley Health NHS Trust.

Routine health problems - a cold, sore throat, earache

  • Pharmacists are qualified to give information on all kinds of ailments and can advise on the most appropriate over-the-counter treatments. 
  • Contact Slough duty Health Visitor on 01753 373464, 0800 7723578 for health advice for under 5 year olds.

Serious health concerns - if you need advice or medical help quickly

  • For 24/7 NHS healthcare advice and information you can call 111. They will advise you what to do next. If they think you need an ambulance, they will send one immediately.
  • Contact your doctor’s surgery for an appointment. If you call out of surgery hours, there will be a recorded message with details of out of hours services. 
  • Go to A&E at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough SL2 4HL. 

Emergency help for life threatening or critical conditions

If you or a family member is seriously ill or injured such as loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, heart attack, head injury, severe loss of blood, suspected broken bones, severe breathing difficulty, or deep wounds:

  • go to A&E at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough SL2 4HL or
  • call 999 for an ambulance or
  • call Wexham Park Hospital on 01753 633000.
