Slough Community Transport and ShopMobility
At SCTS our main aim is to enable all those who live in the community to access all of the local amenities. Our services are for those with physical or mental disabilities, or older people. We have a fleet of 15 adapted minibuses enabling us to transport passengers who cannot access the community independently. Our services vary from taking children with disabilities to local schools on a day to day basis, to escorting older people around the shops and local community. We also escort people to hospital appointments and enable visits to family and friends. This enables people to have their independence with the security of having a trained member of staff accompanying them if any assistance is required. We transport people with disabilities to day centres and also transport people to various lunch clubs each day enabling them to leave their houses for company and a cooked meal. Throughout the various school holidays each year we provide day trips for our members, visiting different locations - this may be a shopping trip, a day at the sea, a nice lunch, or a day out on the river (we always source wheelchair accessible boats).
Our services are vital to our members, and others, as we are often their only means of being able to get out and about into the community, or to hospital appointments, or to visit their loved ones. We have built up a rapport over the past 20 years with lunch clubs, day centres and hospitals; meaning that they refer people to us as a valued community service. We also have many wonderful comments about how much our service means to the people who use our transport and shopmobility services.
