WAM offers support for children and young people affected by a family member's drug or alcohol abuse.
We take referrals from:
- social work teams
- schools
- family member/self referral
- adult drug treatment
- carer support services
- GPs.
What Turning Point Slough offers
Every client has a
- full well-being assessment with the nurse.
- a medical review with the doctor (if appropriate).
- blood born virus testing/treatment on site or delivered to the door.
We work with the HEP C trust for
- additional support.
- ECG testing on site.
- naloxone and training with the option of door delivery.
- needle exchange and harm reduction advise.
- sexual health support and provide free condoms.
- referral for mental health support/assessments on site.
- guidance provided from our benefits JCP clinic.
- housing support.
For our Alcohol clients
- 12 week programme This may include either community reduction or detox support.
Opiate Users
- Introduction to Change Programme- four weeks.
- Recovery Skills Programme-12 weeks.
- Mindfulness and mutual aid-12 weeks plus.
- Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST).
- Physeptone-which like Methadone clients can still use on top.
- Espranor-like Buprenorphone works as a blocker to prevent use on top.
- Buvidal injections-slow releasing Buprenorphone - one injection per week/month.
Reclaim workshop for non-opiate users
- Tend to be cocaine and cannabis users which is not physically addictive.
- Can also be used for spice, amphetamines, ketamine, ecstasy and steroids.
- We offer a six week course of harm min and education.
Additional Support
We have a pathway for under 18’s, through our young people service, who work with the Young People Offending Team to reduce crime, educate students in schools and provide support to those abusing substances or living with a parent/carer who does. We have a family and carers programme to support relatives or significant others struggling with a loved one's substance misuse.
