The Exploitation and Youth Justice Service works with young people to help stop offending, maximise their full potential and help them become responsible, crime-free members of the community.

The service:

  • supervises young people who offend, who are sentenced to any kind of Order by the Court (i.e. Youth Rehabilitation Order, Referral Order etc.)
  • acts as the appropriate adult during police interviews when a parent is not available
  • supplies bail information and bail support services
  • conducts substance abuse assessments and referrals
  • prepares reports for the Courts
  • provides through care and post-release supervision of young people sentenced to custody
  • offers young people leisure activities to enable them to use their free time constructively
  • assists young people who are of school age and who are not in school to re-enter school, or find an alternative arrangement to meet their educational needs
  • offers parental and family support through individual and group work
  • liaises with victims for their opinion and gives them an opportunity to participate in restorative conferencing
  • gives support to young people who are remanded to local authority care or custody.
