Sleep workshop for young people (ages 10-19) with additional needs and their parents
This workshop has been designed specifically to teach children with special or additional needs about sleep and has been taught successfully with children in special needs schools and schools with SEN Units. The workshop is suitable for children with learning difficulties and includes activities that help strengthen what is learnt.
The workshop will be run by specialist Sleep Practitioners from the charity, Parenting Special Children. They have all have been trained by the Southampton NHS Sleep Service and have professional backgrounds in learning disability nursing, social work and teaching. Most importantly, they are also parent/carers of children and teenagers with additional needs.
We will teach:
- Why do we need sleep?
- What happens when we don’t get enough sleep?
- Good and bad foods
- Activities to help sleep and those that don’t help!
- How to set up your bedroom for sleep
Date; Saturday 11th January 2020, 10:30 – 12:00 (the workshop will run for about 40 minutes and the rest of the time will be for settling in, breaks and questions). 1 Parent/Carer must attend with each child.
