SEND youth focus group - September 2023

Jovi, our SEND Participation and Engagement Officer, shares feedback from a group of young people with SEND.

You said

  • Activities that are loud, busy and crowded act as barriers to attend clubs.
  • It helps when staff members at clubs are supportive and if there is a sensory room,
  • More games in clubs will help to develop social skills.
  • You need to be given more time to process information.
  • Knowing content and structure of sessions help you to know what to expect.
  • It helps when people understand how you feel (sensory overload).

Check details on Together as One website.

We did

  • Jovi will attend the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) network meeting to share feedback with service providers.
  • We will be working with service providers towards a more inclusive Slough.

We would like to thank the young people for their contribution.
