Fair access to school provision

A boy and a girl with their teacher in art class.

The School Admissions Code requires each local authority to have a Fair Access Protocol (FAP), which all local schools, academies and free schools must follow.

The policy outlines our arrangements to ensure that pupils are admitted on a fair and equal basis to schools in Slough.

The fair access protocol is used when:

  • admissions arrangement has failed and
  • a suitable place cannot be secured for your child.

The Fair Access Panel consists of representatives from:

  • Slough schools
  • the council
  • other agencies.

The panel considers all information available and the child's individual circumstances to make an informed decision as to what school would best meet the child's needs.
