Slough SENDIASS
Slough Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) is a confidential, free and impartial support and advice service which works at arms-length from the Local Authority.
SENDIASS offers information, advice and support to:
- parents, carers
- children and young people (aged up to 25 years)
on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This includes health and social care if it is linked to education.
We:
- listen to your views and concerns
- work with you to explore your options
- prepare you for meetings
- build up your confidence to share your views
- help with forms, letters and reports
- explain your rights in relation to SEN and disability
- work in partnership with schools and the local authority to develop positive relationships
- arrange meetings in places that are convenient to you with Independent Parent Supporters (IPS) if required
- offer information sessions for parents and carers
- signposting to other services for information, advice and support.
We offer advice and support with:
- gathering, understanding and interpreting information and applying it to your own situation
- preparing for and attending meetings
- writing letters
- the EHC Plan process and annual reviews
- admissions and exclusions
- dispute and disagreement resolution at all stages with schools and the Local Authority
- post 16 provision
- working in partnership with schools and the local authority to develop positive relationships
- SEND Tribunals
- health and social care policies and procedures.
